CONTEMPORARIES VIDEO

My american parents were living in Nova Scotia when I was born in 1979 or so I am told. We quickly moved to Boone, North Carolina, where I grew up, in the beautiful Appalachain mountains. I have a brother and a sister. My parents had many artist friends. Another pointless fact:   We did not have a televisión until I was a teenager.  My mom is sort of an ex-antique dealing public televisión personality/photographer in Portland, Maine. My dad is a Geology Professor at Appalachain State University who regularly bushwacks into the jungles of The Dominican Republic searching for rare stones.  They are devorced. I attended the University of North Carolina (Wilmington / Charlotte) earning a Bachelors degree in Studio art. After graduating, a rigorous selection process ensued…… I got a job as a janitor at a YMCA, it was good excercise and I got pretty good at raquettball and pool. I lived next in a rooming house in Savannah, Georgia for a while, where I painted some 11.5 x 14 inch acrylic paintings on paper and worked in a grocery store, it got robbed on Christmas, but i got there minutes too late to save the day. I joined the army in 2004 as a medic. I wanted to see what it was like. It was pretty good. It was good exercise too, and I learned how to save peoples lives. I did some 8.5 x 11 paintings on paper during that time. After that I had a bunch of money so I paid off my college loans and moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I chased a chicken off of a roof one time….it landed safely.  I painted more 8.5 x 11 paintings and hung out on the beach without once cutting my feet on the glass. Six months of this was enough. So, I went to Canada and did some of strange jobs through the W.W.O.O.F. organization. Alot of them involved animals and were in beautiful places.  After that I was tired so I survived for a while due to the goodwill of relatives/friends in various American States.   I wanted to find a way to make a living as an artist. I am doing it.  I currently live  in Brooklyn, NY with my wife Natalia. – Andrew Abbott
